 The Project

Hacienda La Esmeralda’s journey began in 1940 and transformed into a coffee farm in the mid-1980s. The Peterson family developed the land for coffee production, with a focus on high-altitude environments. Their dedication led to the discovery of the Geisha variety’s remarkable flavors in 2004.

Today, they continue to experiment with coffee varieties and processes, aiming to discover the next great coffee.

The Coffee

Bosque 3 NBS is a naturally processed Geisha harvested on February 1, 2024, from the Bosque lot in Hacienda La Esmeralda’s Jaramillo farm at +1695 MASL. Slow dried for 29 days on raised beds, this coffee reveals vibrant notes of jasmine, guava, tutti frutti, and brown sugar.

The farm’s ideal microclimate, with 4,000 mm of annual rainfall and cool temperatures, enhances its unique profile.
